Itasha cars are vehicles with prints and/or drawings from Anime, Manga or (mainly) Japanese game characters.
The meaning of the word itasha is in big parts ironic and means something like a “painful car pattern which you put on your car, while the car also becomes painful to look at”. But the drivers present their car full of joy and pride anyway – cool owner’s!
A friend of mine showed me in SEP 2013 a meet up in Akihabara and that was totally crazy (in a very good way!), as it was in a garage 3-4 levels below the surface where a few times a year the itasha owner meet up/show up. The responsible for the garage setup this regular meeting and has one of the largest itasha photo collections on the world of the itashas visiting his garage.
It was very special and nice event for me and i will always remember it – arigatou gozaimsu Rhythmsift-san!
